Before you connect

• A site that is already added and verified in Bing Webmaster Tools, and the login you use for it.
• An InsightfulPipe workspace with a brand for the site. Owners, admins and operators can add connections.

Connect Bing Webmaster Tools

1. In the InsightfulPipe app, open Connectors, choose Bing Webmaster Tools and click Connect.
2. Under Permissions, choose Read Only or Read + Write.
3. Sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools and approve access.

Add the MCP server to your AI client

Server URL: https://bing-webmaster.insightfulmcp.com/ and server name: bing-webmaster-mcp.

• Claude: open Claude Connectors Settings, scroll to the bottom and click Add custom connector, paste the URL, click Add, then click Connect.
• ChatGPT: in ChatGPT Security Settings turn on Developer mode, click Create on the Connectors page, paste the URL, click Create, then click Connect. Turn the connector on in each new chat with + → More.
• Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http bing-webmaster-mcp https://bing-webmaster.insightfulmcp.com/, then type /mcp, select bing-webmaster-mcp and click Authenticate.
• Cursor: in the app, open MCP Servers, choose Bing Webmaster Tools and click Install Bing Webmaster Tools MCP, click Open Cursor then Install, then click Connect and Open.
• Gemini CLI: run gemini mcp add --transport http bing-webmaster-mcp https://bing-webmaster.insightfulmcp.com/, then /mcp auth bing-webmaster-mcp.
• Codex CLI: run codex mcp add bing-webmaster-mcp --url https://bing-webmaster.insightfulmcp.com/; authorization starts automatically.

Permissions and safety

• Read Only connections request Bing's webmaster.read access and can't run write actions. Read + Write requests webmaster.manage.
• The six remove_* actions are destructive, so they stay off until an owner, admin or operator enables them in Configure actions for this account.
• add_blocked_url, add_deep_link_block and add_page_preview_block are regular writes that change how your site appears in Bing, and update_crawl_settings changes how Bingbot crawls it. Turn them off where agents should not change search visibility.
• Write actions need the Owner, Administrator or Operator role. Members with the User role only get the enabled read actions on accounts granted to them.

Limits

• The connection is saved under the first site Bing returns for your account. Name the site URL in every request, and use get_sites to see the sites the account can reach.
• URL and content submissions count against the daily quotas Bing sets for each site. Check them with get_url_submission_quota and get_content_submission_quota before large batches.
• Bing decides what it crawls and indexes, so a submission doesn't guarantee indexing.
• IndexNow is not included. Submissions use the Bing Webmaster Tools API.
• Adding and verifying new sites is done in Bing Webmaster Tools.

Troubleshooting

• A remove action appears but fails with "This action is disabled for this connected account. An owner or admin must enable it for the account.": removal actions can be listed while they are off. An owner, administrator or operator can enable the one you need in Configure actions for this account.
• "This account is connected read-only, so this action cannot be enabled for it. An owner or admin must reconnect it with Read & Write permissions.": reconnect and choose Read + Write.
• Submissions are refused: the site may have used its daily submission quota. Check the quota and try again later.
• A site is missing: confirm it is added and verified in Bing Webmaster Tools for the login you connected with.

FAQ

Does it support IndexNow?

No. URL and content submission go through the Bing Webmaster Tools API and use the quotas Bing sets for your site.

Can I compare Bing with Google Search Console?

Yes. Connect Google Search Console as well, add both servers or the unified server to your AI client, and ask the agent to compare queries and pages across both search engines.
