Disclosure: InsightfulPipe publishes this and is one of the 14 options ranked.
The verdict
The best SEO MCP server in 2026 is InsightfulPipe. Of the 14 best SEO MCP servers compared here, it is the only hosted one that puts Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, DataForSEO data, a web crawler and PageSpeed Insights on one connection. You choose which actions each account allows, and removals stay off until an admin switches them on. That makes it the safest of the servers that can write.
An SEO MCP server connects an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to SEO data through the Model Context Protocol. You ask about rankings, keywords, backlinks or page speed in plain language, and some servers can also submit URLs or sitemaps for you.
Two of the 14 can change what a search engine holds for your site: InsightfulPipe, through Bing Webmaster Tools, and AminForou/mcp-gsc, through Search Console. Only InsightfulPipe switches each action per account, with no Google Cloud project.
- Best overall: InsightfulPipe. Five SEO servers and 181 actions on one connection, from the Google Search Console MCP server to PageSpeed Insights. From $29.99 a month.
- Safest write access: InsightfulPipe. Every action is a switch per account, removals stay off until an admin switches them on, and a read-only connection locks every write until an admin reconnects it with read and write.
- Best value: InsightfulPipe. $29.99 a month covers 8 connected accounts across 50 platforms. Ahrefs' docs put its MCP on Lite, at $129.
- Best free option: AminForou/mcp-gsc. Free and MIT, but Search Console only, run on your machine with Google Cloud credentials you create.

How we tested
We read every capability, default and price from each vendor's own documentation, pricing page or public repository, and ran InsightfulPipe on live accounts. We checked every page on 2026-09-29.
We compared the 14 on seven criteria:
Criterion | What we checked |
|---|---|
SEO data | Which of Search Console, Bing, keywords, backlinks, crawls and page speed can the agent reach? |
Writes | Can it submit a URL or sitemap, change a setting, or start a crawl? |
Control | Can you choose per account which actions the agent may use, and does the server enforce it? |
Setup | Is it a sign-in, or a Cloud project, an API key or a desktop install? |
Clients | Does it work in ChatGPT as well as Claude and Cursor? |
Price | What does the cheapest plan with MCP cost, and does the data cost extra? |
Tools in context | How many tools does the model load on every turn? |
Where a vendor's own pages contradict each other, we quote both. Where a capability is not published, we say so rather than guess.
Rank tracking and AI-search visibility are products of their own, so the tables name who sells them. InsightfulPipe reads positions on demand from Search Console, Bing and DataForSEO, and AI mentions from DataForSEO.
Tools that AI answers name but we did not rank, such as Google's Analytics server, Coupler.io and Firecrawl, sit under Also considered with the reason.
The single question that splits this list
One question splits these 14: does the agent need your own site's search data, or the market's? Your own data is free at the source. The market's costs money, because someone has to build the index.
Your own site's data, such as clicks, indexing, crawl errors and page speed, costs nothing to query, so you pay for the connection. AminForou/mcp-gsc is free for Search Console alone, if you build the Google Cloud credentials and run it yourself. Without a developer, InsightfulPipe connects Search Console, Bing, the crawler and PageSpeed with a sign-in.
The market's data, such as keyword volumes, SERPs and backlinks, comes from an index. Ahrefs, Semrush, SE Ranking and Serpstat sell theirs inside a subscription, and DataForSEO sells data per request. InsightfulPipe runs DataForSEO on your own DataForSEO account through the same connection, so one agent sets your rankings beside the market's.
Most SEO work needs both halves, which is why the stacks below pair them.

Side by side: what each server reaches
InsightfulPipe's row is the only one with an entry in every column. Each cell comes from the vendor's own pages; "not published" means the vendor documents none.

Hosted SEO MCP servers
These nine are hosted, so ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor reach them by URL. InsightfulPipe leads with five SEO servers on one connection; the other eight follow.
Best overall: InsightfulPipe
InsightfulPipe connects five SEO servers to your AI assistant through one hosted connection, and you decide which of their 181 actions each account allows.

Coverage is the first difference. Google publishes no Search Console MCP server, and AminForou/mcp-gsc covers Search Console alone. InsightfulPipe carries five SEO servers:
- Google Search Console, 10 actions: search analytics up to 25,000 rows a request, URL inspection for up to 50 URLs a call, an indexing audit of your top pages, and your sitemaps.
- Bing Webmaster Tools, 52 actions: 34 reads, from rank statistics to crawl issues and inbound links, and 12 writes that submit URLs, content and sitemaps or update crawl settings.
- DataForSEO, 82 read actions: SERPs, keyword volumes, Labs, backlinks, On-Page, Lighthouse and AI Optimization, which reports LLM mentions.
- Web Crawler, 33 actions: page audits for meta tags, canonicals, hreflang, structured data and links, llms.txt checks, and a sitemap generator that crawls a whole domain.
- PageSpeed Insights, 4 actions: Lighthouse scores and lab metrics, plus real-user Core Web Vitals, INP included, when Google has the data.
Why it is the safest of the servers that can write
Control is the second difference. Every limit on InsightfulPipe is a switch, and your admin decides where each one sits.
An owner, admin or operator opens a connected account and chooses which of its actions the agent can use, one by one, across read, write and destructive, and can switch any back at any time. InsightfulPipe's server enforces the list, not your AI client, so it holds in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and the CLI.
- Removals start off. Bing's six removal actions stay off on a new connection until an admin switches them on, and InsightfulPipe keeps Search Console's sitemap submission and removal switched off for every account for now.
- Read-only means read-only. On a read-only Bing connection no write can be selected until an admin reconnects it with read and write.
- You confirm first. The unified server tells the assistant to confirm with you before a destructive or public-facing action.
- Roles hold. Members on the user role get read actions only, on the accounts an owner or admin grants them.

Why five tools, not 181
Every tool a server publishes loads into the model's context on every turn. SE Ranking's MCP page counts 180+ tools, and Ahrefs' docs say its server goes over the tool limit many clients set. InsightfulPipe's unified server publishes five tools, and the same five reach all 50 platforms. The agent looks up a Search Console or Bing action only when it needs one.
What else you get
- 50 platforms on one connection, including GA4, Google Ads and Tag Manager, so one agent can set Search Console queries beside GA4 sessions.
- Local SEO through Google Business Profile: reviews, replies, local posts and search keyword impressions.
- Every major AI client, from Claude and ChatGPT to Cursor and Codex, plus the Claude Directory and the ChatGPT app directory.
- Brands, so each agency client keeps its own properties and action lists.
- A CLI, the
insightfulpipenpm package, under the same controls. - Free Claude skills and prompts, such as the SEO audit skill and a keyword ranking prompt.

Pricing: Starter is $29.99 a month for 8 connected accounts, with 500 crawler requests and 50 PageSpeed tests a month. Growth is $89.99 for 35 accounts and Agency $299.99 for 150. DataForSEO bills its data to your own DataForSEO account.
Where it is the wrong answer: if all you need is Search Console reports and you can run a server yourself, a free local one will do.
Best for: in-house SEO teams and agencies who want one assistant across Google, Bing, keyword data and page speed, with limits per account.
DataForSEO
DataForSEO sells SEO data by the request, and its MCP server is a thin door onto that API.

Its open-source server has four tools: three read DataForSEO's docs, and api_request calls any endpoint across seven APIs. It runs hosted or locally. The connection is free, and the data is pay-as-you-go from a $50 top-up.
Pros
- Seven APIs behind one server, On-Page and Lighthouse included.
- Credits never expire, per its product page.
Cons
- No Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools data.
api_requestcan post tasks, and its On-Page docs say "Your account will be charged for each request."- Its FAQ gives the endpoint as
mcp.dataforseo.com/mcp; its README says/v3/mcp.
Best for: developers who want raw SEO data without a suite.
Ahrefs
Ahrefs' server reads Ahrefs' own index, and it comes with an Ahrefs subscription.

Ahrefs runs a hosted server. Its docs sort tools into 20 groups, including Rank Tracker, Site Audit and a gsc group for Search Console data. Each call costs at least 50 API units, and Lite is $129 a month.
Pros
- Search Console data beside Ahrefs' own.
- A monthly unit limit per key, set by an admin.
Cons
- Its docs say it "goes above this limit for many" of the clients that cap tool counts.
- Its MCP page says MCP is "Included on all paid Ahrefs plans," but its docs say Lite or higher, and it also sells a $29 Starter plan.
- Its MCP page promises a Cursor guide that its docs do not have.
Best for: teams already paying for Ahrefs Lite or higher.
Semrush
Semrush's server reads your Semrush data and, by its own docs, changes nothing.

Its hosted server has 14 tools, twelve of them for finding reports, from keyword research to position tracking and site audit. Its docs say you "can get data from your projects this way, but not create new projects, modify settings, or perform other actions."
Pros
- OAuth by default, with nine documented clients.
- Position tracking and site audit data from your projects.
Cons
- Read-only, by its own docs.
- Its prices page labels only the $199 Starter plan "MCP access" and never names SEO Classic, which its docs list.
- Its MCP page says MCP is included in Semrush One; its docs add an API units package for Advanced.
Best for: teams already paying for an eligible Semrush plan.
SE Ranking
SE Ranking's server reaches deep into an SE Ranking workspace, on your plan's API credits.

Its hosted server covers keywords, backlinks, audits, AI search visibility and SERPs, and its project API creates projects and schedules audits. "MCP is included in every SE Ranking subscription," from a $50 pack of 250,000 credits.
Pros
- Project writes for audits and rank tracking.
- Wallet credits never expire, per its API pricing page.
Cons
- Its MCP page says 180+ tools, its docs 160+ and its GitHub repo 195.
- Its own tool catalogue includes project and audit deletes, and neither MCP page says how they are gated.
- No Bing Webmaster Tools or Core Web Vitals data is published.
Best for: agencies that already run rank tracking in SE Ranking.
Serpstat
Serpstat's server reads and runs Serpstat audits, and its pages disagree on its tool count.

Serpstat runs a hosted server and a local one where "your API token never leaves your machine" and you pick tool groups. Its docs tag tools read-only or destructive, such as delete_project. MCP needs Team, $100 a month billed annually or $129 monthly.
Pros
- Tool groups you can switch off in the local version.
- Hosted and local versions of one server.
Cons
- Its MCP page says 63 tools; its tool reference says 65.
- The tool reference renders nothing without JavaScript.
- No Search Console or page speed data is published.
Best for: small agencies that already report from Serpstat.
Nightwatch
Nightwatch's server reads your Nightwatch rank tracking, and its own pages disagree on which plan includes it.

Nightwatch's MCP page promises "live access to rank tracking, audits and AI visibility data" through a hosted endpoint or an npx package, with a scoped API key. Keys read by default, and write scopes are opt-in per key. Professional is €159 a month billed yearly.
Pros
- Rankings on Google, Bing and YouTube, plus AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity visibility.
- Read-only keys by default, per its FAQ.
Cons
- Its MCP page says MCP starts on Professional; its pricing FAQ says it "is on every plan, including Starter."
- No tool count is published.
- No Search Console or backlink data is listed.
Best for: teams already tracking rankings in Nightwatch.
Advanced GSC MCP
A hosted Search Console server from the author of mcp-gsc, with lookups metered by plan.

You sign in with Google for Search Console, SERP and keyword lookups and Core Web Vitals. Starter is $15 a month for 3 properties, with 100 SERP and 100 keyword lookups a month, and Max adds a crawl and backlinks at $105. Its privacy page says it requests no write access.
Pros
- One-click connect for Claude.ai, ChatGPT and Claude Desktop.
- Read-only Google permissions, per its privacy page.
Cons
- No tool count is published.
- Backlinks and the crawl need the $105 Max plan.
- Its
/mcp.mdpage still shows older prices of $12, $35 and $100.
Best for: a solo SEO with a few properties.
Keywords Everywhere
Keywords Everywhere sells keyword credits by the year, and its server spends them.

Its hosted server returns search volume, keyword ideas, ranking keywords, traffic estimates and backlinks at one credit per keyword, with no MCP fee. Every plan is annual, from $84 a year for 100,000 credits that expire after a year.
Best for: content teams that want keyword volumes in ChatGPT.
Free and local SEO MCP servers
These three cost nothing and run on your own machine, set up by someone comfortable with a terminal.
AminForou/mcp-gsc
The free pick for Search Console alone, if you can create the Google Cloud credentials yourself.

AminForou/mcp-gsc is MIT licensed with 1,791 stars. You run it with uvx through a Google Cloud project you create, and it covers search analytics, URL inspection, sitemaps and sites. Its README says site changes and sitemap deletion are disabled by default; sitemap submission is not.
Pros
- Free, with site and sitemap deletion off by default.
- Batch URL inspection and an indexing check.
Cons
- You create the Google Cloud project and OAuth client yourself.
- Its README table lists 15 tools, its text says 20, and its source has 21.
- Its README says it "only works in the Claude Desktop app," not claude.ai in a browser.
Best for: SEOs comfortable with Google Cloud who want free Search Console access.
iannuttall/seo
A free local audit toolkit for developers, with no hosted endpoint.

iannuttall/seo is an Apache-2.0 CLI and MCP server with 544 stars. It crawls your site on your own computer, reads Search Console and GA4 through a read-only Google sign-in, connects one verified Bing site and runs Lighthouse audits, across 74 reports.
Pros
- Free, with a read-only Google connection.
- Your own crawl, Search Console, GA4 and Lighthouse in one tool.
Cons
- Its docs say "There is no hosted SEO MCP endpoint in this release," so ChatGPT cannot use it.
- Keyword and backlink data needs a DataForSEO, Semrush or Ahrefs key you pay for.
- Its docs say the MCP server has three tools; its source registers six.
Best for: a technical SEO who wants audits in Claude Code or Cursor.
Chrome DevTools MCP
Google's Chrome team ships a browser-automation server that can run Lighthouse on one page at a time.

Chrome DevTools MCP is Apache-2.0 with 52,737 stars and 59 tools. Its performance traces cover Core Web Vitals, while its lighthouse_audit "excludes performance." By default it collects usage statistics and sends trace URLs to Google's CrUX API, and it can click and fill forms on the pages it opens. It reads no Search Console or keyword data.
Best for: developers checking Core Web Vitals in Claude Code or Cursor.
Crawler and audit servers
Two desktop crawlers now speak MCP. One lets an agent run crawls on your machine; the other only reads audits you already ran.
Screaming Frog SEO Spider
Screaming Frog lets an agent run full crawls, from a licensed desktop copy of SEO Spider.

SEO Spider 24 added an MCP server on 19 May 2026 that can "run crawls, analyse, export and manipulate data" from Claude and LM Studio, per the release post. It is "a paid licence feature only," per the configuration guide, at £199 a year per licence. Its Node tools are off by default.
Pros
- Full-site crawls from a crawler many technical SEOs already run.
- Node script tools off until you enable them.
Cons
- Setups are documented for Claude Desktop and LM Studio only.
- Its release post says "Not every feature and function is currently supported in the SEO Spider MCP."
- Its guide says only the licensed user may access or interact with the software.
Best for: technical SEOs who already crawl with SEO Spider.
Sitebulb
Sitebulb's MCP discusses audits you already ran, and it "can't run, schedule or change a crawl."

Its support article says "Sitebulb MCP is intentionally read-only," and its 15 tools list audits, summarise scores, group hints and compare crawls, with up to 50 example URLs per issue. A Desktop connection works only while the app runs. Lite is $18 a month, MCP included.
Best for: teams that want to discuss finished audits in Claude or ChatGPT.
What an agent can do on a new SEO connection
Three SEO actions can hurt: removing a sitemap or a property, hiding pages from search, and running up a data bill. Ask four questions before you connect a site.
Can it remove anything? AminForou/mcp-gsc deletes sitemaps and sites once you set an environment flag. SE Ranking's tool catalogue includes project and audit deletes, with no gate on its MCP pages. On InsightfulPipe, Bing's six removals start off until an admin switches them on, and Search Console's sitemap writes stay switched off for every account for now.
Can it change how your site shows in search? On InsightfulPipe, Bing's blocks for URLs, deep links and page previews are regular writes, so switch them off wherever an agent should leave search results alone. Search Console connects with Google's read-only permission, and InsightfulPipe keeps its sitemap submission and removal switched off for every account for now, so submit sitemaps through Bing.

Can it spend money? DataForSEO bills every request, Ahrefs takes at least 50 API units a call, and Keywords Everywhere a credit per keyword. On InsightfulPipe, the crawler and PageSpeed draw on your plan's monthly allowance, and DataForSEO bills your own DataForSEO account, so switch on only the DataForSEO actions each account needs.
Where does the human sit? DataForSEO's docs say Claude asks for approval the first time it calls a DataForSEO tool, which is your client's setting. In Claude, you can set each connector tool to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked. InsightfulPipe adds a boundary on the server, set per account before the session starts, and tells the assistant to confirm before a destructive or public-facing action. Set execute_action to Needs approval as well.

That is why InsightfulPipe is the safest of the servers that can write: every limit is a switch your admin controls, every removal starts off, and the server enforces the list in every client.
Which SEO MCP servers should you stack?
Choose InsightfulPipe if you want one assistant across Search Console, Bing, keyword data and page speed, within limits you set. Most teams run two servers, and MCP clients support several at once.
- One assistant for your site and the market, $29.99 plus DataForSEO usage: InsightfulPipe for Search Console, Bing, the crawler and PageSpeed, with DataForSEO data on the same connection.
- An agency, $89.99 plus DataForSEO usage: InsightfulPipe Growth, 35 connected accounts, one brand per client, each property with its own action list.
- A suite owner, your plan plus $29.99: your suite's server for its index, and InsightfulPipe for Search Console, Bing and page speed.
- Free and local, $0: AminForou/mcp-gsc for Search Console and Chrome DevTools MCP for page speed, both installed and run by a developer.
Connect InsightfulPipe in three steps
Connecting InsightfulPipe takes a sign-in and a URL, with no Google Cloud project and nothing to install.
- In InsightfulPipe, open Connected accounts, click Connect account, choose Google Search Console, sign in with Google and pick your properties. Add Bing the same way, and enter your DataForSEO login once.
- In Claude, add InsightfulPipe from the Claude Directory, or add
https://google-search-console.insightfulmcp.com/as a custom connector and click Connect. In Claude Code, runclaude mcp add --transport http google-search-console-mcp https://google-search-console.insightfulmcp.com/. The URLhttps://main.insightfulmcp.com/reaches every connected platform at once. - Open each account's actions, keep the ones you want, and ask a first question, such as "Which pages have high impressions but low CTR?"

Start a trial and connect your first property, or plan your first week with these SEO prompts for Claude.

What we would not recommend
Four repositories rank for these searches but should not be your first choice. ahonn/mcp-server-gsc documents one of its eight tools and asks Google for read-only access while listing a sitemap submit tool. seotesting-com/gsc-mcp-server has no licence file and no commit since March 2025. AST-Consulting/gsc-mcp is a Google Analytics server under a Search Console name. isiahw1/mcp-server-bing-webmaster has 25 stars and no push since February 2026.
What the other vendors do not publish
We could not check several claims here, because the vendors publish nothing to check against.
- SE Ranking: no web page lists its tools, and its own pages give 180+, 160+ and 195.
- Ahrefs: no tool count, and no Cursor guide behind the one its MCP page promises.
- Serpstat: a tool reference that needs JavaScript, and 63 or 65 tools depending on the page.
- Advanced GSC MCP: no tool count, and two price lists on its own site.
- Nightwatch: no tool count, and two answers on which plan includes MCP.
- Keywords Everywhere and Screaming Frog: no official tool count.
