Is this an official Telegram MCP server?

No. InsightfulPipe is an independent, hosted server that uses the Telegram Bot API with your own bot token. InsightfulPipe is not affiliated with Telegram.

Which AI assistants does it work with?

Any AI client that supports remote MCP servers. The setup guide on this page covers Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI and Codex. You can also work with the same connected accounts from the terminal with the InsightfulPipe CLI.

Is there a Claude connector for Telegram?

Yes. In Claude, add https://telegram.insightfulmcp.com/ as a custom connector and authorize your InsightfulPipe account. You can also add InsightfulPipe from the Claude Directory, which connects all of your linked accounts at once.

Can I use the Telegram MCP server with ChatGPT?

Yes. Add the server URL as a custom connector in ChatGPT Developer mode, or add InsightfulPipe from the ChatGPT app directory to connect all of your linked accounts. Developer mode availability depends on your ChatGPT plan.

What can my AI access in Telegram?

Your bot's profile, name, descriptions and command list, the connected chat's details, a member's status in that chat, file details and user profile photos. Everything is limited to the one chat you connected.

Can it read messages in the chat?

No. The server has no action for reading chat history or incoming messages. It works with messages the bot sends, using the message IDs Telegram returns, and with messages you reference by ID.

Can it send and edit messages?

Yes, on connections set to Read & Write. It can send text, photos, videos, audio, locations, contacts and polls, forward and copy messages within the chat, edit the text and captions of the bot's messages, pin and unpin messages, and delete messages.

Is it safe to let AI post through my bot?

You control the risk. Connect as Read-only to block all writes, or pick exactly which actions are allowed on a Read & Write connection. Deleting messages stays off until an owner, admin or operator enables it, and every action is locked to the chat you connected. Sending messages and unpinning all messages are regular write actions.

Can I connect multiple bots or chats?

Yes. Each connection is one bot in one chat. Connect the same bot to several chats, or several bots, as separate connections. Each connection counts as one connection on your plan.

How does authentication work?

You paste the bot token from BotFather into InsightfulPipe, which checks it with Telegram and stores it encrypted. You then add the bot to your chat and send the connect command shown during setup, and confirm the chat in InsightfulPipe. Your AI client signs in with your InsightfulPipe account, not the bot token.

What are the limitations?

It acts as your bot, not your personal Telegram account, and only in the chat you connected. It cannot read chat history, manage members, change chat settings or message other chats. Telegram Bot API limits apply, including file size limits for media.

Open Claude connector settings (Customize > Connectors), click + and then Add custom connector.

Start a new chat, click +, open Connectors and turn the connector on to use it.

The Free plan can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner first adds it under Organization settings > Connectors, then each member clicks Connect in Customize > Connectors.
