YouTube MCP Server

No. InsightfulPipe is an independent, hosted MCP server that uses the YouTube Data API and YouTube Analytics API. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or YouTube. As of September 2026 we found no official YouTube MCP server from Google, and YouTube is not on Google Cloud's list of Google-managed MCP servers.

Yes. In Claude, add https://youtube.insightfulmcp.com/ as a custom connector and authorize your InsightfulPipe account. You can also add InsightfulPipe from the Claude Directory, which connects all of your linked accounts at once.

Yes. Add the server URL as a custom connector in ChatGPT Developer mode, or add InsightfulPipe from the ChatGPT app directory to connect all of your linked accounts. Developer mode availability depends on your ChatGPT plan.

YouTube Analytics reports for channels, videos and playlists, including views, watch time, average view duration, subscribers, engagement and estimated revenue for monetized channels, by demographics, traffic source, device, playback location, US state and more. From the YouTube Data API it can read channels, videos, search results, trending videos, playlists, comments, subscriptions and channel activity.

Yes, on Read & Write connections. It can upload a video from a public URL with title, description, tags, privacy status and an optional custom thumbnail, update video metadata, create and update playlists and playlist items, and reply to and edit comments. Deleting comments is off by default.

No. It can reply to existing comments and edit comments, but it cannot post new top-level comments, community posts or live streams.

You control the risk. Uploads need an explicit privacy status, so ask for private or unlisted when you want to review a video first. You can connect channels as Read-only, and on Read & Write connections owners, admins and operators choose exactly which actions your AI can use; disabled actions are hidden and blocked. Deleting comments stays off until someone enables it. Restricted team members only get read actions on the channels they have been granted.

No. The YouTube Analytics API does not provide the report on when your viewers are on YouTube, so the server cannot show it. You can analyze demographics, traffic sources, devices, playback locations and geography instead.

Yes. Connect each channel you manage, and your assistant can compare channel performance in one conversation.

You connect YouTube to InsightfulPipe with Google OAuth and choose Read-only or Read & Write access. Your AI client then signs in to the MCP server with your InsightfulPipe account and receives an InsightfulPipe access token, not your Google login. You can disconnect a channel at any time.

Uploads come from a public video URL of up to 300 MB, and custom thumbnails must be JPEG or PNG files of up to 2 MB. YouTube Analytics data is not real time, and YouTube's API quotas apply. Top-level comments, community posts and live streams are not supported.
