Is this the official X Ads MCP server?

No. X offers its own X Ads MCP server. InsightfulPipe is an independent, hosted MCP server that connects to the X Ads API. InsightfulPipe is not affiliated with X Corp.

How is it different from X's official X Ads MCP?

X's server offers 74 tools and uses your own OAuth 2.0 token, which needs an X developer app with Ads API access. InsightfulPipe needs only an X sign-in, offers 80 X Ads actions including scheduled promoted posts and async analytics, connects X together with 49 other MCP servers, and adds per-account action controls, Read-only connections and team access.

Which AI assistants does it work with?

Any AI client that supports remote MCP servers. The setup guide on this page covers Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI and Codex. You can also work with the same connected ads accounts from the terminal with the InsightfulPipe CLI.

Is there a Claude connector for X Ads?

Yes. In Claude, add https://x-ads.insightfulmcp.com/ as a custom connector and authorize your InsightfulPipe account. You can also add InsightfulPipe from the Claude Directory, which connects all of your linked accounts at once.

Can I use the X Ads MCP server with ChatGPT?

Yes. Add the server URL as a custom connector in ChatGPT Developer mode, or add InsightfulPipe from the ChatGPT app directory to connect all of your linked accounts. Developer mode availability depends on your ChatGPT plan.

What X Ads data can my AI access?

Campaigns, line items, promoted posts, promoted accounts, cards, media, targeting criteria, tracking tags, funding instruments and account history, plus analytics such as impressions, engagements, reposts, likes, replies, follows, video views and X Pixel website conversions. Stats can be segmented, for example by conversation topic, age, location or device.

Which X ad formats does it support?

It covers campaigns run through X Ads Manager: promoted posts (image, video and carousel cards), follower campaigns with promoted accounts, and video ads. Reservation products such as Takeovers are not included.

Can it create and change X campaigns?

Yes, on accounts connected with Read & Write access. It can create and update campaigns and line items, create promoted-only posts, promote posts and accounts, create cards, upload media, schedule promoted posts, and add targeting criteria and tracking tags. New campaigns and line items are created paused.

Can I manage multiple X ads accounts?

Yes. When you sign in with X, InsightfulPipe lists the ads accounts you can access and you choose which ones to connect. Each connected ads account counts as one connection on your plan, and team members with restricted access only get read actions on the accounts granted to them.

How does authentication work?

You connect X Ads to InsightfulPipe by signing in with X and choosing Read-only or Read & Write access. Your AI client then signs in to the MCP server with your InsightfulPipe account and receives an InsightfulPipe access token, not your X login. You can disconnect an ads account in InsightfulPipe at any time.

What can't the X Ads MCP server do?

It does not cover reservation products such as Takeovers, custom audience management or funding changes. Synchronous stats are limited to 7 days and 20 entities per request, so longer ranges run as async jobs of up to 90 days, or 45 days when segmented.

An X Ads MCP server connects X Ads (formerly Twitter Ads) to AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for giving AI tools access to data and actions. Once connected, you can ask Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor about campaign performance and ask it to make changes, instead of working through X Ads Manager.

You control the risk. New campaigns and line items start paused, and ad posts are created as promoted-only. You can connect accounts as Read-only, and on Read & Write accounts owners, admins and operators choose exactly which actions each account exposes, across read, write and destructive, and your AI is given exactly that set; anything outside it is blocked. Delete actions stay off by default. Campaign and line item updates can set them to active, and scheduled posts can be switched to organic, so turn those actions off where agents should not launch or publish.
